Look Again

Throwback Thursday from a couple years ago. Forgot all about this story. Amazing how easily we forget things. Also goes along with the theme of the week, “Rest”.

The Good Word

We as human beings try to do the right thing by our standards. I often think about how I could help more and what I would do or should do if I encounter someone in need, I tell myself I would try my best to fill that need.

I was reminded recently that God knows what is best and what is needed not us.

Here’s what happened the other day, I left the grocery store and I saw a homeless man sitting on the side walk with nothing but a few bags beside him. His head was hanging sadly.

My mind immediately began to race about what to do. Do I give him money? Some of my food? Ask him what needs? All these thoughts were racing through my mind.

I decided to ask God.

I could hear the words, “Pray.”

I did exactly that. I prayed for his needs…

The Importance of Rest III

I have written twice and re-blogged once about the Importance of Rest.

I am writing about this subject again because quite frankly I am exhausted.

Some may point out to me that I have taken on too much lately but the truth is that is not the case. I have neglected my rest.

I have gone to bed far too late far too many times.

Then when I could sleep in or nap I chose to fight of the fatigue in order to stay awake to do other things. Often leisure and fun activities.

In the moment I always think I am just sacrificing rest to do what I need or want to do but the truth is what I am doing is wrong because God tells us to rest.

I need to repent of allowing myself to neglect my rest.

Also my Pastor preaches on rest and has talked to me personally about the importance of rest.

Really there is no excuse for me to continue to fail to get proper sleep.

So in conclusion I leave you with these 12 Bible Verses on rest.

The Importance of Rest

With Labor Day coming up I figured this would be a good post for Throwback Thursday.

The Good Word

I can’t begin to tell you the importance of rest. If you’re exhausted you need to take time to re-energize. Go with the Lord and relax. Spend quality time with Him. Take a vacation with the Lord.

Society has told us how important it is to work hard, God would agree with that but society tells us those who rest are weak. Some won’t even use their paid time off from their jobs, thinking it will make them look good if they just keep going.

It won’t look good when you burn out completely and break down.

The Bible tells us differently. We need our rest. Even God rested. Genesis 2:2, “2And on the seventh day God had finished the work He had been doing; so on that day He rested from all. His work -. ”

The Importance of Rest II

Labor Day was just last week a day designed for the worker to have a day of rest and be celebrated. Unfortunately now a days it seems like most or at least too many are not given that day off. Quite the contrary actually many stores and businesses say it is one of their busiest days or weekends of the year.

Two years ago I wrote a blog called, “The Importance of Rest”. Unfortunately I feel that things have gotten worse in the world when it comes to rest and not better. I know for me personally I continue to struggle with recognizing the importance of rest. This past week I went to bed later and later and woke up earlier and earlier. Not good. By the end of the week I felt sick every time I returned from work due to the lack of sleep.

Luckily I have been resting well this weekend and been able to get better.

A lot of us were forced to take a rest this year for an extended period of time but for most the stress of their jobs, finances or a desire to just keep busy kept them from resting and they were more tired than ever despite being stuck at home.

I said this in my previous blog on this subject, I can’t begin to tell you the importance of rest.

It is true.

We know we are not greater than God and yet God chose to rest and told us to do the same.

You need to rest, so do so not because anyone else tells you but because God tells you to.

So rest in the arms of the Lord and Have a Blessed Week,
Chris

In the Bible God orders us to rest as He did.
