To My Wife

This Thursday it will be Twelve years since I met my wife Jane. When we met she was originally not a Christian, I didn’t realize that later she would end up strengthening my faith more and more. She has been a huge blessing in my life. I can’t imagine life without her. I thank the Lord for placing her in my life, she has been a gift for almost twelve years and every day I am blessed to be with her.

Husbands out there treasure your wife and treat her as a gift. Here is some scripture to show how we should treat our wives.

Ephesians 5:25-30 English Standard Version

“25 Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, 26 that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, 27 so that he might present the church to himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish.[a] 28 In the same way husbands should love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. 29 For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ does the church, 30 because we are members of his body.”

Love God and love your wife.

Have a Blessed Week,
Chris

The story of my Bible

It’s interesting reading this blog from 2017. I would change some wording here especially the part where I said, “everything made sense”. Not everything made sense and I still four years later have a lot to learn. But I did finish the NIV, I recently very slowly read the NKJV Dr. David Jeremiah Study Bible and now I read from the ESV. I love my journey through God’s word.

The Good Word

I was finally taking my Christianity seriously, that’s what I told myself. I was looking for a NIV Bible but hadn’t taken the time to actually go out and get one. What I did take time to do was go to Rita’s for the free Italian Ice day. Myself and my fiance (now wife) got our a treat and while eating we noticed a little thrift store right next to it. We decided to go inside, they had all different kinds of things, we walked around and then I noticed there was a trunk full of Bibles, NIV in fact. I asked how much one cost and the man told me he just keeps them here to give out to people. I thanked the man and quickly grabbed one after my fiance and I paid for our items we picked out.

It felt special, even though it was a basic…

Love

I’ve written about 1 Corinthians 13 a few times but I think it’s more relevant than ever both in the world and in my personal life.

So here we go…

How often do you hear someone say, “This comes from a place of love.” Or “I love you to death but…”

A lot of times what is said following that opening line is something far away from love.

We see people that behave in a manner that comes off the opposite of love while claiming they’re acting in love.

On the flip side some behave in a manner that is enabling wrong behavior.

So how do we love properly?

Instead of me speaking on this, let the Word of God speak instead.

1 Corinthians 13…

The Way of Love

“13 If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal.

2 And if I have (A)prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, (B)so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.

3 (C)If I give away all I have, and (D)if I deliver up my body to be burned,[a] but have not love, I gain nothing.

4 (E)Love is patient and (F)kind; love (G)does not envy or boast; it (H)is not arrogant

5 or rude. It (I)does not insist on its own way; it (J)is not irritable or resentful;[b]

6 it (K)does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but (L)rejoices with the truth.

7 (M)Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, (N)endures all things.

8 Love never ends. As for prophecies, they will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away.

9 For (O)we know in part and we prophesy in part,

10 but (P)when the perfect comes, the partial will pass away.

11 When I was a child, I spoke like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I gave up childish ways.

12 For (Q)now we see in a mirror dimly, but (R)then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as (S)I have been fully known.

13 So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.”

Have a Loving Week,

Chris

Through Christ

Throwback Thursday

The Good Word

Philippians 4:13 New King James Version (NKJV)
13 “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

I wrote about the importance of this Bible verse to me. Today I want to write about the importance of the verse overall.

Every obstacle or challenge, whether it be a financial problem or a family problem or a sickness or whether it be spiritual, through grief, through strife, through sin and addiction anything and every battle can be faced by just looking at this verse.

There is hope in this verse, all things are possible through this verse.

Truly all things are possible through Christ, we see this not just in this verse but throughout the New Testament.

The blind saw, the hungry were fed with little, the dead were raised, demons were defeated, sinners immersed deep in their sin were saved, miracle after miracle.

We are saved through Christ, He…

“The Problem With American Christianity is…”

How often have you heard that begin a statement? Or maybe its in the form of a question or they will substitute “Christianity” with “church”.

It seems too often that message is muttered in different ways and the person saying it always has the answers.

I want to throw this out there, and there will be some irony in my message.

The problem with American Christianity is people telling others what’s wrong with American Christianity.

Rarely do you actually hear a person talk about their own flaws, commonly you hear about the flaws of others.

Rarely do you hear about the flaws and problems of a person’s own church or denomination, commonly you hear about the flaws and problems of other churches and denominations.

This leads to anger, resentment, sadness and a wide variety of negative feelings.

Also many planks in a person’s eye goes ignored as they attempt to address their brother’s. This gets in the way of their sanctification and spiritual growth with God.

I know all these things said to be true because it describes me!

I get so angry at others, I don’t understand why they don’t think a certain way or behave in a Christian manner.

Then I end up thinking ungodly thoughts and behaving in unchristian ways.

Lord have mercy on me and help me better.

Have a Blessed Week,

Chris

Dealing with Hostility to God

Throwback Thursday. I really hadn’t done a lot of Bible study or apologetics study before this entry but I still think the entry holds up.

The Good Word

“There is no evidence for God”

“I don’t believe in imaginary Men in the Sky”

If someone tries to argue with them on the issue they say, “That’s a straw man argument!”

You ever see these comments? Any article that has anything to do with God always has these type of comments. They claim that there is no science to back up the existence of God. The entire universe isn’t enough. Every creature, every plant, every natural thing on this Earth serves a purpose.

We know that everything on Earth comes from something or someone but we are supposed to believe that the Universe comes from nothing and is completely random.

The mathematical possibility of such a thing occurring is laughable. They claim there is no scientific books on God, that is a lie. There are hundreds of books dedicated to the matter. Also look at some of the most…

Be Warned Don’t Become The Wolf

We hear often that we must beware the wolf in sheep’s clothing. This a very true and important message found in scripture.

I’ve heard recently from a Pastor that a good Sheppard protects the flock from the wolves.

That is also true.

However when doing so a person must become mindful of their behavior and emotions.

I’ve seen this too many times, a person begins to become angry, hostile in their defense of God’s Word and the flock. They begin to mock, scoff and forget to call to repentance the person they’re targeting. Then before you know they’re more and more people they deem, “wolves” and “heretics”. Before you know it the line becomes blurred and there seems to be more wolves then sheep.

What seems to happen is the Sheppard now has become the wolf.

What then happens is only destruction and bloodshed. To the outsider looking in all they see is two wolves surrounded by destroyed sheep. Even worse the original wolf may looked like the victim and the one who was trying to defend the flock looks like the perpetrator.

So how does this become avoided?

We stand firm on God’s Word by having it in our hearts, minds and spirit. That way our hearts will resemble God’s, our minds will think like God’s mind and His Spirit will be guiding us along the way.

Have a Blessed Week,

Chris

Blessings Will Come

With everything going on right now, and in the past two years, I think this is the best entry for this week’s Throwback Thursday.

The Good Word

Remember God is always there.

Fear not He is with you in your suffering and anxiety, combat what is distressing you with the power of God.

Remember He will never forsake you.

Jesus told us our Father in Heaven values us more than the birds in the air who He provides for.

He also said He has a place prepared for us when we pass away.

God will take care of us on Earth as it is in Heaven.

Trust in Him, the blessings will come. You know this because He provided His grace so you’re already blessed!

Keep watch and look out the blessings can come from anywhere or from anyone.

The Lord will provide because He loves you.

Have a BLESSED week,
Chris
